Bruce and Jodie
A couple of weekends ago saw me (ably assisted by Cath and Max) out shooting a family portrait session with some friends of ours.
Bruce and Jodie are a lovely couple, and their kids (who are also great value) go to the same school as Max.
But as the Gods would have it, it turned out to be a stinking hot 41 dgrees (that’s 105 Farenheit!).
Still, we all braved the heat, and made the best of the time we had.
Given that we were shooting in the middle of the day with high angle, high contrast light, I chose to shoot under shade. That would achieve 3 things straight away.
1. No racoon eyes.
2. Less squinting.
3. Less fatigue from being in the hot sun.
However, the shade that was available to us tended toward dappled light, as the foliage wasn’t that thick.
Thankfully though, I had my large reflector kit with me, so we whipped out the scrim and lodged it up in the tree to give some soft, even light across the subjects.
I would like to thank Bruce and Jodie for allowing me to capture these images of their family.
I had a great time (despite the heat!) and I think they did too.
Great work Bruce! I love the b&w pic of the husband and wife the best. Beautiful! They look like a lovely family!
