Meetup #13 – White Bay power station

Today, myself and a handful of the usual suspects got together for our monthly (or thereabouts) photo meetup.
A couple of people had given me the tip off about the open day for photographers at the White Bay power station in the harbourside suburb of Rozelle.
Rather than just shoot the remains of the power station, I figured why not find ourselves some super-ripped male model, and do a grungy-industrial kind of shoot.
So, off to modelmayhem I go and post a casting call.
The guy I had lined up for the last week or so sent me an SMS last night to say that he’d just come out of hospital and that if I could find another model, he’d appreciate sitting this one out.
So, I sent out a distress call to 2 or 3 of the models I’d passed over.
One of them, Nat Landy, got in touch to say yes, he was still interested and that yes, he would be there for us.
Nat was absolutely fantastic to work with, and I can’t recommend him highly enough to anyone looking for that good “rugged, totally-cut Aussie bloke” look. He arrived on time, he rang when he said he would ring, and he was open to any ideas suggested to him. Thanks Nat!
The thing that blew me away the most was the fact that out of our group, not one female photographer showed up!
But, be that as it may, those of us who were there had a great time, got some pics we’re happy with, and enjoyed the opportunity to shoot a model of the opposite sex, for a change!
I’d like to give a shout out to one of the group members, Garth Coulson, who was an absolute legend in going over to Dragon Image at Artmarmon yesterday to pick up the Flashwave transmitters and receivers. Thanks mate!
