Weekend adventures – volume 002

Today, Cath, Max and I went for a drive in an effort to explore more of the Central Coast.
We decided to head a little bit inland, as most of our exploring so far has been up and down the coastal stretch.
Getting a little peckish around 1 o’clock, we decided that the next restaurant or cafe we came across, we’d stop at for lunch.
The establishment that fitted the bill was called the Corrugated Cafe, so called because of the corrugated iron which lines some of the internal walls.
But what caught my attention (and what has promtped this blog post) was the amazing collection of cameras that the owner has collected and put on display inside the cafe.
This was a collection seriously worthy of any of the world’s great museums.
Box Brownies, Practikas, a whole bunch of stuff that I didn’t even recognise, and the camera whioh if memory serves me correctly was my very first camera… the Kodak Instamatic 233x. I wouldn’t have remembered that model number prior to today, but upon seeing it sitting on the shelf, there was instant recognition dragged from the depths of my memory.
Seeing such a fine collection of photographic history, I had to go and grab my camera and grab a couple of shots. As I was grabbing some images (including a shot of Max checking out a Polaroid from the early 80′s), the owner invited me into her office to show me something (I didn’t even think to ask if it had a name or what it was!) that was REALLY special. This thing must have dated if not from the 1800′s, then certainly from the very early 20th century. I’ll let you check out the images… maybe you can tell me what it is!
