Meetup #16 – Turn of the Century
September 4, 2011 by Bruce · 3 Comments
Yesterday saw another month roll by, and time it was for another of our Sydney meetups.
The theme of this shoot was “Turn of the century”, and although not explicitly stated, the implication was “turn of the 20th century”.
Our two models were Lucas Glover (he, of meetup #15 fame) and the stunning Danielle Hocking.
The location was Aspinall House at The Scots College, which some will recall was the location for our first Film Noir shoot this time last year. Again, a huge round of thanks to Grahame Chambers (Housemaster) for giving us the run of the place for a couple of hours.
The car?
It’s a ripper, isn’t it?
It’s a S.C.A.T. (Societa Ceirano Automobili Torino), built in Italy in 1910! Puts out a mind-numbing 15 horsepower, and reaches a top speed of around 65km per hour!
We were most fortunate to have Euan and Wilga (the owners) agree to put the car on a trailer, and drive 120km just so we could photograph it. Thank you so much, guys! I really appreciate the effort!
As for my treatment of the images, I couldn’t resist aiming for that really distressed, antique look with a square format. I may publish some hi-res colour versions later.
To everyone involved, thanks for your input. It was a great afternoon, and I’m really glad we were able to put this themed shoot together.
Adore the duotone colour treatment, Bruce. This is a glorious set of shots. So jealous I couldn’t make it.
Sorry ya couldn’t be here, too, Ren! Hopefully, you can get here for the November weekend away!
The photos look terrific – I love the attention to detail, the setting, car, costume, poses – i can’t wait to join the next meet-up.
