We had our last breakfast together as a group, before heading back to our respective rooms to pack bags.
The two other families were both leaving Sabah that day, while we were simply taking a cab to our next hotel, the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru.
We arrived mid-morning, knowing that check in wasn’t until 14:00, but content with the idea that we’d sit by the pool until our room was ready.
At check-in, Cath was asked if she would like to upgrade from our already booked Deluxe room, to an Executive room in the Kinabalu Wing.
From memory, it was an extra 100 ringgit (A$30) per night, but on top of being a nicer room, that additional fee included a full buffet breakfast in a special dining room, reserved for the exclusive use of occupants of the Kinabalu Wing. It also included unlimited tea/coffee/fruit juice all day, plus free afternoon tea from 16:00.
This was a ridiculously good offer, so we jumped at it.

I spent the afternoon taking some photos around the resort. I also noticed the fishing village across the other side of the bay, and decided that before we left KK, I’d have to get over there to grab some shots.
